LiveLink™ DVI Cabling System
The LiveLink™ DVI cabling system is Runco’s exclusive solution for guaranteeing reliable, pure digital video signal transfer in a custom installed home theater. This is the first and only DVI cabling system capable of truly supporting long runs while preserving all essential high-resolution video signal quality. In nearly every home theater installation, an installer mounts the video processor at the A/V rack, which puts immediate restrictions on whether or not they’ll be able to provide a quality DVI signal to a video display, depending on where the customer wants that display installed. Today’s existing DVI cables provide very little reliability, preserving HD-quality video signals (720p and 1080i) for just a few meters. And even at such short distances, simply flexing the DVI cable can create random color sparkles or complete loss of the image altogether. Additionally, the size of DVI connectors makes routing them through standard wall and floor conduits difficult or impossible.
Runco’s LiveLink™ Cabling System solves all these challenges, first by using a DVI-to-HDMI cable to begin the DVI signal transmission at the A/V rack’s video processor. The HDMI interface plug is small enough to be easily run through standard conduit, letting installers conveniently bypass challenging installation environments, and ultimately bring the pure digital signal to the distant video display. At the display, the HDMI interface connects to the LiveLink SmartBox™, which has an attached foot-long DVI pigtail cord to ultimately deliver the digital signal to the display device’s DVI port. Power for the SmartBox is supplied by the DVI source, but a provision has been made for external powering if desired.
